Relief Applications supported PIROI in the development of the AHGI training curriculum (Abri, Habitat et Gestion de l’Information) to strengthen regional surge capacity in the Indian Ocean. This initiative built upon previous SURGE training modules, integrating a flexible, scenario-based learning approach to reinforce technical and operational preparedness across National Societies.
Following the success of PIROI’s SURGE training on logistics and health, the organization identified the need for a new learning pathway to strengthen regional surge capacities in shelter, habitat, and information management. The goal was to create a consistent training model adaptable to diverse technical needs across the Indian Ocean region.
Relief Applications collaborated closely with PIROI to co-design a modular training curriculum integrating operational and technical learning components. The curriculum structure enables National Societies to apply the same framework across various thematic areas (Shelter, IM, WASH, Health, etc.), by simply adding the relevant technical modules. The scenario-based approach ensures practical, hands-on learning adaptable to local realities.
Our team designed and delivered the full training curriculum package, including facilitation guides, learning objectives, session plans, and assessment tools. In 2025, we extended the project to produce a comprehensive learner’s booklet covering both core and technical modules, consolidating all training materials into a unified learning resource.
This project demonstrates Relief Applications’ ability to design and implement scalable, modular training systems for humanitarian surge preparedness. The AHGI curriculum exemplifies our capacity to merge learning design, operational expertise, and stakeholder facilitation. The approach is directly relevant for future capacity-building, training, and knowledge management projects across humanitarian networks such as the Red Cross Movement, UN agencies, and INGOs.
